Visit of Agricultural Minister to Sangbay Gewog

His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture Dr. Pema Jamtsho accompanied by the senior official visited the Gewog on 17 /03/09.

Sangbaykha Pry. School

Sangbaykha Pry. School is established in 1991 and which provide education for the young stars of 9 villages under Sangbay Gewog. As of now there are 75 students and the school provide them with 2 meals a day and the students of remote village are provided with hostel facilities.
The hostel which was constructed by the RSDP project was finished and it caters around 20 boys.
The School is headed by Mr. Sangay with 4 male teachers, and 5 NFE centers in the Gewog was established in 2008 which have around 70 NFE learners.

Rope Way between Gewog Center and Mochu Village

This rope way helps every one to communicate between the people of Mochu and Gewog Center. The people of Mochu takes 2 days to reach to Gewog Center when there is no rope way.
this rope way is renovated last year after.

These Institutes serve the people of Sangbay Gewog. The public of near by village visits the Gewog Ofiice as there is a facilities like V-Sat telephone and a Television where they can watch live BBS & communicate with their loved ones.

Profile of Sangbay Gewog

Sangbay geog is one of the remotest of gewog in Ha Dzongkhag. It takes officially 4 days of tedious walk from the nearest road head to the Gewog centre. Gewog has an area of about 432.8 Sq.Km (approx.) with 6 “Tshowogs” (Shabjee, Sangbaykha, Nakhekha, Nakha,Yaba & Mochu). All the Tshowogs are scattered into 13 villages with 183 households.

The altitude of Sangbay Gewog ranges from 1400m to 2100m above the sea level. The climatic condition of Sangbay Gewog varies from warm in summer with heavy rainfall and hailstorms and cold dry in winter. The Gewog has 85% of forest coverage and it has Sub- Tropical Forest and Evergreen Broad Leave Species. The forest products found in the Gewog are Bamboo, Cane Shoots, Ferns and Mushroom. The soil is mostly sandy loam, clay loam, clay and sandy clay loam. It is surrounded by Sama geog in the Northeast and Samtse Dzongkhag in the South.
